4 Different Ways To Use CBD Oil

This is a question we get a lot. Taking CBD oil is as simple as dropping the required amount under your tongue. However, many users find the strong, bitter taste of the oil a little overpowering.

Luckily, there are plenty of other ways to ingest CBD oil. In this article, we’ll shed some light on alternative methods of intake, such as swallowing our very own softgel capsules, mixing into various topical lotions, or infusing into food and drinks.

4 DIFFERENT WAYS TO TAKE CBD:

1. TRY SOFTGEL CAPSULES

Softgel capsules capture all the goodness of our regular CBD oil in tasteless, easy-to-swallow caps. They have the same potency as our regular golden CBD oils (either 4% or 10%) and can be taken orally just like regular capsules.

Best of all, our softgel capsules are comprised of a tasteless gel, making them ideal for users who struggle with the bitter taste of regular CBD oils. Containing a total of 6.4mg of unadulterated CBD per capsule, our gel caps also make dosing extremely easy.

Unlike regular oil dropped under the tongue, softgel capsules are absorbed via the digestive tract. Hence, they are absorbed slightly slower, taking up to 30 minutes to take effect.

2. MIX CBD OIL WITH REGULAR LOTIONS

CBD is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and can be great for the skin. It's a good idea to try mixing some CBD oil with your regular body lotion. To do so, simply add your required dose of CBD (we suggest 9-12 drops daily) into your lotion of choice. Mix, then apply to the skin.

Note that lotions with high fat content make it hard for the CBD to be absorbed into the skin. Therefore, it's a good idea to take just a small amount of lotion, mix it with the CBD, and apply it to a small area of skin as a test. The lotion should be absorbed quickly by the skin and should also infuse well with the CBD oil.

If that's not the case, try mixing the oil with another lotion with a lower fat content. Alternatively, check out our range of CBD creams and start nourishing your skin with the benefits of CBD today.

3. MIX CBD OIL WITH SMOOTHIES, PROTEIN SHAKES, OR OTHER DRINKS

This is a great alternative for those who do not like the taste of regular CBD oil, but also struggle to swallow pills and capsules. Simply take your dose of regular CBD oil and drop it into a blender when making a smoothie, protein shake, or other blended drink.

Because average CBD doses only consist of a few drops, you can rest assured that the oil won’t alter the taste of your drink in the slightest. We highly recommend CBD smoothies and shakes for busy individuals who are constantly on-the-go. If you don’t have time to make up your own drink at home, you can even add a few drops of CBD to a store-bought shake and mix. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

4. MAKE YOUR OWN CBD EDIBLES

Edibles are another great way to mask the taste of CBD oil. CBD oils are extremely versatile and can be added to all of your favourite dishes. All you need to do is briefly heat the oil with some cooking fat, such as butter or oil (coconut, olive, and sunflower all work great).

Below is a simple recipe for CBD brownies that you can make at home. Here’s what you’ll need:

225g good-quality chocolate
¾ cup (170g) butter
1¼ cups (280g) sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
¾ cup (90g) all-purpose flour
¼ cup (30g) cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
CBD oil

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F.

2. Break chocolate into chunks. Melt half.

3. Combine your required dose of CBD (we suggest about 10ml) with the butter in a bowl and melt slowly. Then, mix the melted butter with sugar before beating in the eggs and vanilla until the mixture is light and fluffy.

4. Whisk in the melted chocolate; make sure it isn’t too hot or it will cook and scramble the eggs in the mixture.

5. Combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then sift.

6. Fold the sifted dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a plastic spatula. Do not overmix.

7. Bake for roughly 20-25 minutes.

If you’re not much for sweets, remember that you can add CBD to savoury dishes too. Simply add your recommended dose to the cooking fat of your choice and continue making a recipe as normal.

Note that there are some downsides to cooking with CBD. First of all, it’s hard to keep an eye on dosing. Secondly, seeing as the CBD has to pass through the digestive tract, it can take some time to take effect.

Nonetheless, cooking with CBD is a great way to cover up the bitter taste of the oil and a fun way to add the benefits of CBD to your regular diet.
